In a video that has surfaced online, a woman and her husband can be seen being yelled at by an Indian embassy officer in New York as they try to get their visas.
The woman who lost her father a day before the incident, claimed that as she desperately tried to return to India for her last rites, she faced this barbaric treatment at the embassy.
In the video, the couple can be seen asking the officer, Vijay Shankar Prasad, why he is behaving so aggressively despite having submitted all the documents.
While Vijay, furious with something, hands them their documents and storms inside. She also alleged that she was told she was no longer an “Indian” because she lived in the United States.
for safety that I live in the United States and am no longer a #Indian – and have no rights. No “reason” for this level of apathy and indifference is acceptable to anyone, let alone someone who found out they lost their father a few hours ago and is asking for help. .

My brother had a similar experience while traveling from Canada for my mother’s last rites. But it was @airindiain that compounded the loss, we were going through
-He was denied boarding due to defective seats.
– They lost his luggage.
-While coming back, they extorted another ₹38,000 from him. https://t.co/ulhMxTDjHX— Prashant Pratap (@iPrashantSingh) December 1, 2021
